Dress to impress

Today I spend part of my Saturday afternoon at the Dress to Impress vintage fair, and I have to say I saw there so many beautiful items and jewelery! A lot of these fairs take place here in Bucharest and everytime, I see expensive vintage brooches and rings and unique clothes, hand made, or vintage made from velvet - which I adore, or lace! Take a look and see. I also met with Alice from Dulapul Bunicii again and had a little chat which was great; she was participating with her own items as you can see in the picture below.

These dresses are originally from the '20 or '30 which is my favorite era! I simply stood there and stared at them, drooling. It's not very complicated to make such a dress, but to own one from that exact period of time in perfect state, that really is something!

The place where this fair was taken place is a beautiful mansion I could say, with millions of rooms, I was walking in circles,  very old chandeliers and great big windows; I would really like such a house.

Of course I had to buy something! As soon as I set my eyes on this beautiful blue velvet jacket I knew it had to be mine!
I cannot wait to wear it, it's just gorgeous!

I am hoping you'll all have a Happy and Fierce Halloween tomorrow! I think I'll watch Nightmare before Christmas in that night.

It's all in the detail

I bet you all know where these babies come from, don't you?

Where do I begin to describe!? The heel's sculpture, the embroidery, the aggressive but, excessively you might say, luxurious feeling that is coming from the whole ensemble? I can't even imagine how much time has been spent to make one shoe alone. Alexander McQueen has always been an inspiring genius, and for me, he was one of my favorite fashion designers. What he did for Fall 2010 was beyond gorgeous! I wanted to share this with you, I like to share beautiful things.. If one day, I could work at his company, I think I would lose my voice from screaming with joy! But that is a beautiful dream..

At the atelier

This is me working at the school's atelier. It's quite messy all the time and usually full of students like myself, but this time it was ok. After awhile my colleagues left and I was sewing by myself, listening to '80s songs from the radio. I love when I work quietly, focusing on what I have to to.
As you can see, my fabric is not at all grey as in the sketch, but I find this salmon pink quite nice.
I managed to snap a few self-timer photos, I don't know if this is the best outfit, but I wanted to show it anyway, it's quite casual , simple and boring for me, but thinking that I accessorized it with those necklaces and boots , makes it look more...glam.
It's Sunday and I can't work at all...so I am off to make some sketches for another project!

Black and White

I can't believe how black/white I dressed that day. It was about two days ago, when the weather was still rainy. I guess I wasn't in the mood for color. Although, I was so pleased when I saw all these leaves on the ground, it's like a a rug that makes me dive into it! This is the highlight of Fall! After this, I get bored, and can't wait for the first snow.

Also, that day I met with Alice from Dulapul Bunicii and bought from her this Audrey Hepburn brooch! Isn't it adorable ? I can't wait to wear it! We drank tea and had a great talk, It was so nice to meet her!
Now, I am of to college to work!  Have a great day!

Watercolor dress

Hello darlings! How is this week for you? Mine started ok despite the awful weather ( I didn't have the courage to wake up this morning when I looked outside the window)  I am in the middle of work, so this is a quick post with photos I did a couple of days ago. I met with an old friend and spent a beautiful afternoon talking , catching up.

I have to say that I really love wearing maxi skirts - this is actually a dress - and I tried my favorite fall look: I combined a maxi sheer dress with a sweater/jacket. I will definitely take this dress more often, as soon as the rain stops. Isn't the print just amazing? So sensitive like a watercolor painting. Now I am back to work!

And no, these photos were not taken with my new camera.

Sketches

These are the sketches for my college project. The theme is: over-measure. Or over-sized if you like. Basically we had to pick a part of the clothing and enlarge it; shoulders, neckline, hips, but it has to look compositionally great. My teacher chose the gray one, I like it myself and hopefully it won't turn out too different from the drawing; that happens - a lot. I don't know if I'll make it in that color, depends on what fabrics I find.

Oh and if you would like to see more of my work, check out my DeviantArt page beneath this blog's header.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

P.S. I bought myself a DSLR camera! I've been playing with it like crazy. Can't wait to shot more with it.

Autumn flowers

An outfit post with what I wore today at college. I am in love with my new shoes and don't want to put them away yet! I see so many outfits with them. That's what I like when I buy something: to not wear it with the same piece of clothing, but to find lots of possibilities (unless I am absolutely in love with something and can't resist buying it! and then I end up regretting it.) Today I took this vintage skirt I found in a second hand shop. I loved the print and immediately felt it's perfect for autumn.

On another note, I surpassed the sketches period for my project and now I have to buy fabrics and begin the difficult process of making the patterns and sew. But I am quite excited about this one, hope it will go well! I'll post updates soon!

Mustard shoes

So, I finally took my new shoes out for a walk. Actually I took them yesterday , but only today I managed to take a few photos. The day-light was fading, so this is all I could do! It's cold here, very weird for this time of the year but I missed wearing this cardigan! So, I took it with me; it's sooo warm! I met with a few friends, pausing from my work on my project. More, soon, expect some sketches.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Caramel. Blue

Hello everyone! The weather is awful here in Bucharest, besides some research for a college project I have nothing to do (more about this project in another post) I decided to post these photos I took yesterday;  I convinced the lovely Dion, who's a very good photographer, to snap these for me while we were around campus.  Check her out here, she has potential !

I must say I love this skirt, mainly because of its fabric and color depth, it's one of my precious findings! Well, I'm off to my work,  hope I will post something soon  (and wear my new shoes! )

Have a great week!
